These delicious round-shaped pastries enclose a rich ricotta cream, chocolate and diced candied orange peel. They have a special symbolic meaning, in that they were made to celebrate the courage and pride of  young Sicilian girl who, many centuries ago, rejected the continuous sexual advances of a rich man and eventually became the victim of his brutal assault.
